Fees
Most people have health insurance to cover the costs of doctor visits. In BC, this is the government-run Medical Services Plan (MSP). Unfortunately, MSP does not pay for all visits; it only pays for necessary visits for the diagnosis and treatment of illness. In other words, if your visit is for any of the following reasons or for the purposes of having a form signed, you will have to pay a fee.Visits and Services Not Covered by MSP
Some examples:- Drivers Medical Exams
- Insurance or Legal Medical Exams
- Pre-Employment Medical Exams
- School or Camp Medical Exams
- Treatment of benign or cosmetic skin moles, warts and growths
- Preventative Health Counselling in otherwise well person
- Pre-Travel Medical Consultation
- Transfer of medical records to a new family physician
- Copies of all or part of the medical record
- Telephone medical consultation
- Vaccines and flu shots for those who do not qualify for the government-paid vaccination program
Forms and Letters Not Covered by MSP
Some examples:- Sick notes and disability forms
- Pre-employment and first-aid forms
- Letters to employers, insurers and lawyers
If you want to know the current fee for any of the above items, please contact the office staff. If for any reason you feel you cannot afford to pay the fee, please speak with your doctor or the staff. As a comparison, you can check the "Fee Guide For Un-Insured Services" published by the British Columbia Medical Association. Please note that fees are payable at the time of service.
